Ecotec services a variety of applications with a range of industrial battery chargers.

Conventional Charge
A typical conventional charging application is where the battery is discharged in the truck for 8 hours, its removed from the truck, replaced with a fully charged battery, and the discharged battery is put on charge for 8 hours, and then it’s allowed to cool down for 8 hours. This method of charging may require multiple batteries per truck.

Opportunity Charge
In opportunity applications, the battery is charged while remaining in the truck. The term “opportunity charge” describes how to charge, which is at every reasonable opportunity such as break periods, lunch periods, shift change, anytime when the truck is going to be left idle for 10 or more minutes. The maximum output current of an opportunity charger is usually at least 50% higher than a conventional charger. Typical charge rate is 25-35 amps per 100AH of battery capacity. This allows for faster charging and in a properly designed system, maintains the batteries state of charge somewhere between 30% and 80% depth of discharge.

Fast Charge
Fast charge industrial battery chargers have more than twice the current of a conventional industrial battery charger but follow a very similar charging regime. The typical charge rate of a fast charger is 36-50 amps per 100AH of battery capacity. Fast charging is required when an opportunity can’t keep up with the truck usage requirements.

Fleet Management
Our scalable system allows customers to choose the level of management they need. Every Access charger is ready to be set up for the Best Battery System to maintain a “first in” – “first out” battery rotation. Every Access charger also is capable of storing and displaying data. Adding the Service Tool Software allows the customer to download the data from the Chargers and the BMU via Zigby radio. For the Ultimate in fleet management, add the Data Collection Unit, DCU, which make all the data available from a central location and provided a means of remote access to the data.
